park and oak sconce round up

Happy Friday!  It has been a very busy but exciting week for us over here at Park and Oak.  We have been working so hard to get this new collaboration up and running for the last few months, and a few projects have started to come together and we’re starting to see the fruits of our labor.  We would like to send a huge thank you to Anne Sage for the kind words on her blog: http://annesage.com/2016/01/19/traditional-interior-design-park-and-oak/

We’ve been following Anne for a while and have drawn so much inspiration from her lifestyle blog and book Sage Living.  We had no idea that she even acknowledged our existence, so we were giddy with excitement when we read the post!

Ok, back to business.   Let’s talk about sconces.   The great thing about sconces is that you can pretty much stick them anywhere.  They are small, but pack a very powerful punch because what commands more attention than light?

I put together a few rooms as examples of how sconce placement affects the design and can create visual interest.

Let’s look at bookshelves first.   These brass sconces really stand out on the dark blue book shelves. The placement in the center around the art is just perfect.  Via

and here they look great above the shelves.  Via

Here they have own little space, right smack in the middle, very interesting. via

I love this look and wish and I could have it in my own house, with an area for seating and then the sconce placed on the side of the bookcase.  Via

These contribute to the farm house aesthetic in this bathroom.  Via

And you know that the lighting at the School House Electric house is going to be just perfect.  Duh.  Via

Here’s a round up of some of our favorite sconces.  There are a lot of things to consider when choosing the right sconce for your space, such as wall color, flooring, size, other light fixtures, and the mood of the room.
