We’ve been working on a house in Barrington that has been really interesting and a lot of fun. Our client bought a house that was built in 1969, with a fairly standard (boring) layout and decided to build some character into both the exterior and interior. The house is for a growing family of four, and she wanted something livable, yet still fresh and modern.
We love this wallpaper from Caitlin Wilson because it’s bold, yet classic at the same time. With the black and white walls, it needed some warmth and texture with the wood vanity from Restoration Hardware. We felt that the best compliment to the square pattern would be a round mirror, which is from Layla Grace.
If you’re feeling inspired, but at the same time terrified, to do something bold or patterned, then the powder is a great place to start. You can get really creative because it’s tiny and it won’t be overwhelming. Another example of a bold powder room that we did is in Chris’ house, with the Kelly Wearstler wallpaper:
I’m thinking I need to do an entire post about wallpaper now, stay tuned…
