Changing your hardware is a quick and inexpensive way to transform a space. It may seem minor but it makes a big impact. Brass is neutral and mixes well with other metals. We always recommend using a variety of metal types to add richness to a space.

Brass is like copper’s favorite cousin, it has a living finish, and ages with grace over time. We love to see brass paired with organic elements like wood and natural stone. And while brass may feel trendy, its golden hue has been around for ages. It can add warmth to a modern design or a sense of history to a traditional design.

Some of the brass finishes we like most are antique brass, satin brass, and polished brass.

Antique brass is treated and chemically darkened to simulate aged brass. It looks great on lighter colored cabinetry because it stands out. Every room benefits from a vintage element, so if this is missing your design, adding detailed hardware with an antique brass finish may be a great solution.

Satin brass is much lighter in color overall and typically matte. This finish looks fantastic on darker colored cabinetry because of its crisp brightness but there are no rules. You’ll often see satin brass in traditional, modern, and contemporary designs.

Polished, or unlaquered brass, is shiny and golden. Because of its brilliance, it works well with any colored cabinetry. You can let is tarnish or maintain its shine. Regardless of what you decide, it is always a bold focal point.
