When you are looking at a space to design, sometimes you just know that it doesn’t matter what furniture you put in there, it’s just not going to be right and it’s screaming at you for something else. We had just that sort of predicament and Chris came up with the idea to build bookshelves around a window, which ended up solving the problem. The bookshelves transformed the space into a cozy reading room for a family of 5.
We styled the shelves with mostly books and a few collected items to give it a library feel. The beautiful organic wood coffee table was the final addition, and it really is a showstopper. It brings so much warmth and life into the space, and compliments the gray sofa and Hague Blue (Farrow and Ball) walls perfectly.
Here are some other examples of how bookshelves around windows can really add character to a space.
